Kapoor & Family

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, a “Bollywood daughter,” is now a reality OTT star as well. She shares a glimpse of her family vacation album and explains why she loves slow and luxurious travel.

She’s a true-blue Bollywood girl, born into one of the most celebrated families in the Hindi film industry, yet she has never truly been a part of it. The daughter of the yesteryear superstar couple, the late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, and sister to current heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor (and sister-in-law to Alia Bhatt), Riddhima Kapoor Sahni has stayed out of the spotlight for years. Married to her college sweetheart, businessman Bharat Sahni, Riddhima has been busy raising their daughter, Samara, and pursuing jewellery designing in Delhi. Recently, however, she stepped in front of the camera for the new season of the OTT series, Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives.

What prompted her to finally face the camera? Riddhima credits her mother, Neetu Kapoor, for the decision. “When Karan (filmmaker Karan Johar) offered me a role in Season 3 of the show, my mother was the first person I called, and she was very enthusiastic,” Riddhima shares. On the show, Riddhima joins the Delhi trio — entrepreneur Kalyani Saha Chawla and art collector and philanthropist Shalini Passi — for a face-off against Bollywood wives Neelam Kothari Soni, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Kiran Sajdeh, and Bhavana Pandey.

“I was both nervous and excited when I first thought of facing the camera. But eventually, I became comfortable,” Riddhima says, describing the experience as “fun.” She particularly enjoyed travelling during the show. “I loved our trip to Mauritius and absolutely enjoyed spending time with the girls,” she adds. Riddhima considers herself a traveller who prefers immersing herself in the vibe of a place and enjoying meaningful experiences, rather than a tourist constantly on the go.

Romancing the
City of Lakes

Udaipur, the beautiful city of lakes in Rajasthan, is one of Riddhima’s favourite destinations near Delhi. She recently visited it with her family and relished every moment of the trip. “Udaipur is a luxury haven and my all-time favourite holiday destination within India. This vacation was a great way for all of us to connect and spend time together,” she says.

What Riddhima Loves

Riddhima is captivated by Udaipur’s rich cultural heritage and calls it “unparalleled”. “The beautiful forts, palaces, and lakes have my heart,” she says. She also admires the fact that Udaipur is steeped in history throughout its entirety. “The museums, temples and other monuments are all must-visits,” she adds. Highlights for her include boat rides on Lake Pichola, visits to the City Palace, Jag Mandir Palace, Ambrai Ghat, sunset views from Monsoon Palace (Sajjangarh Fort), and exploring Saheliyon Ki Bari and Bagore Ki Haveli Museum.

Retail Therapy

“Rajasthan has so much to offer in terms of handicrafts; no one should leave without shopping, especially the traditional lac ki churiya (lac bangles),” Riddhima says. She also advises trying an authentic Rajasthani thali, her preferred culinary experience in Udaipur.

For Riddhima, the City Palace is the biggest attraction. “As a jewellery designer, I draw inspiration from architectural heritage. The sheer brilliance of the majestic City Palace is so awe-inspiring,” she explains.

“My phone and charger, a book to read, my yoga mat (I’ve been a yoga practitioner), and the great company of my loved ones,” she says.

Her Kind of Travel

Riddhima prefers relaxed holidays over action-packed itineraries. “Travel needs to find a balance between slow and luxurious. For me, a holiday means laid-back moments where I can spend quality time with close friends and family,” she explains.
