Of Beaches & Floating Mosques

A lively waterfront called Jeddah Corniche, studded with golden sand beaches and unique art installations hugs the Red Sea. Visitors can scuba dive and snorkel to discover lost shipwrecks and unique marine life. Jeddah Corniche also features the Al Rahma Mosque, which appears to float on the water during high tide and provides the most ethereal pictures.

Jeddah Favs

History of Jeddah

It’s said Jeddah’s history can be traced to the Stone Age, but the city gained prominence in the 7th century when it became the Gateway to the Holy City of Mecca (Makkah) and became a melting pot of different cultures.

Al Balad Historic District

Jeddah’s historic Al Balad District was once a thriving port town on the Red Sea, trading spices, frankincense, fabrics, gems, and jewellery. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and an exceptional representation of traditional Red Sea architecture reflected in its imposing tower houses with hanging, latticed windows called rawasheen, vibrant souqs and narrow winding alleys. The iconic Bab Makkah flanks one end of Al Balad.
